At the recent Fleming awards held in London Keller played a part in each of the three projects in the final. The winning scheme,in Brisbane, Australia, was for work on one of the country's largest infrastructure projects. A team from Arup, Benaim, URS Scott Wilson and RD Geotech designed the scheme, known as the Toombul box jack, which involved pushing two 65m long, 21m wide and 12m high concrete boxes below a six lane rail embankment to create a new rail link to Brisbane Airport. Keller successfully installed GRP soil nails and soilfrac grouting in advance of the box jack.
Runners up at the ceremony were teams from the Bauer/Keller JV Project at the Tottenham Court Road Station upgrade and from Skanska/Interoute's M74 extension where Keller grouted mineworkings and installed vibro stone columns.
Jim De Waele. Managing Director of Keller UK said "these projects demonstrate the breadth of our solutions and our ability to solve some of the most complex problems in infrastructure geotechnics."
