A3 Hindhead Tunnel Portals, Soil Nailing

A major Highways Agency project of 2008-2011 involved tunneling beneath the Devils Punchbowl in Hampshire.

Keller Geotechnique's contribution to this major scheme was to install several thousand soil nails at both tunnel portals. Using a combination of drilling systems, types of access platforms together with a unique facing system this major sub contract was a success.

Keller Geotechnique designed,sourced and installed an alternative facing allowing topsoil and vegetaion to be place in cells.

Travelling through this tunnel it is difficult to appreciate the advances in slope engineering that Keller have offered at this site.
